One thing I love about Des Moines is the lower cost of living and the available amenities that compete with larger cities.
One of Reilly’s DSM favorites is enjoying dinner at Aposto at the Scala House. A one-of-a-kind dining destination, Aposto offers a modern take on classical Southern Italian cuisine served inside a 1880 Victorian mansion. Reservations at Aposto are limited and highly sought, and scoring a spot to dine there makes it worth the wait!
Reilly is also not one to say no to a cold, sweet treat at Snookies Malt Shop. This small, family-owned business and a Des Moines favorite, Snookies serves up some of the region’s best ice cream, malts, shakes and other frozen desserts.
Another of Reilly’s favorites in DSM is the annual Iowa State Fair held in August each year. The Fair is full of fun, food, games, rides and music, not to mention the chance to take part in hands-on agricultural activities. The Iowa State Fair in Des Moines is a celebration featuring the best of Iowa with a festival-like atmosphere.
