I love that Des Moines is a place where you can always find someone that knows someone that knows someone to help.

At the top of Mark’s list of favorites in DSM is the World Food & Music Festival. A vibrant three-day cultural experience, The Festival offers an impressive line-up of more than 50 food vendors that represent 30+ countries and culinary regions. It is a nationally renowned, must-see and delicious annual event in DSM.

Another of Mark’s favorites in DSM is the Iowa State Fair. It is one of the oldest and largest ag and industrial exhibitions in the U.S., sprawling across 445+ acres and typically draws 1 million or more visitors every year! Iowa’s State Fair was the creative inspiration for Phil Stong’s novel, State Fair, plus three motion pictures and a musical adaption by Rodgers and Hammerstein.

Mark also enjoys exploring the adventure and recreational experiences at Jester Park. The park offers camping and picnicking for park users, as well as boat ramps, a nature center, a natural playscape (great for kids!), fishing ponds, horseback riding, golf, cross-country skiing, snowmobile and hiking trails and quite a bit more. There is no better place for a nature enthusiast than Jester Park, found just north of the DSM metropolitan area.
