Jackie Schmillen

First on Jackie’s list of Great Des Moines (DSM) favorites is the diverse local food scene. She loves to explore the flavors of the region, experience cuisines from around the world and find new and delicious favorites. Jackie’s favorite restaurant in DSM is Table 128, which serves up farm-to-table fresh dishes from a highly acclaimed local chef, featuring a rotating menu while highlighting seasonal ingredients from local producers. 
 
Jackie is an avid local sports fan, supporting many DSM community teams including the Iowa Wild and Iowa Barnstormers. You can also find her decked out in cardinal and gold on game days, supporting Iowa State University just a short 40 minute drive from the regional area. DSM is also the home of an array of action-packed sports teams, including the Des Moines Buccaneers, Des Moines Menace, Des Moines Roosters, Iowa Cubs and Iowa Wolves. 
 
Another of Jackie’s all-time favorites is the Iowa State Fair! There’s nothing like spending a day in August at the fairgrounds enjoying the best Iowa has to offer in agriculture and livestock, music and entertainment, games and rides and some of the tastiest (and most creative!) foods you can imagine. The Iowa State Fair is a longtime tradition in DSM and something many locals look forward to all year long.
